Fight Against Max Hospital... just another chain-mail????

I just hate these spams, chain-mails/sms, & forwarded junks (like everybody else loves it, ugh!!). Everyday in our mailbox, we see tons of mails sent by who-knows-who making stupid claims & providing weird information. On top of that, some of them warn you that if you do not follow the chain something BAD will happen to you. Which world are you living in people... must not be the same as I live in, because bad doesn't happens by not spamming other's inbox. I never forward these mails/sms and delete most of them without reading (which is strictly prohibited as per those mails; maybe that's the reason I am not happy these days!!) or send a strict reply warning the sender to never repeat it again (or something BAD will happen to him, lol). Certain mails provide you with stunning information which are mostly hoax/rumors & we spread them by forwarding it further without validations and believing them too...

So I received another forward recently from one of my friends titled "Fight Against MAX Hospital" with an attached presentation too. It was from some Deepika Manchanda from Wipro saying that her sister Nitika Manchanda (who was a Genpact employee) was ill-treated carelessly by MAX
Healthcare, Pitampura (New Delhi, INDIA) which resulted in her death; and she wanted to spread this message across to fight against it. As usual I didn't just believe it; but I didn't delete the email either. I replied back to Deepika asking her about the facts; and she replied back confirming the story (it was on Hindustan Times too, click here). That's when I opened the presentation & had a look and read further details. Honestly, it was not surprising or shocking.. but highly disappointing, inappropriate, painful & shameful as well. This has not happened for the first time in India or the world, but its still very unfortunate...

Please have a look at the presentation/blog by clicking here for more details. It is the unfortunate story of Dr. Nitika Manchanda's death due to irresponsible behaviour & carelessness of Doctors/Hospital and seems Nitika died due to negligence of MAX hospital & its staff. As per latest update from Deepika; postmortem done at Babu Jagjivan Ram Memorial Hospital, does not conclusively say anything except Patechial rashes and hemorrhages all over her body. Final report would come after chemical analysis of blood and viscera examinations is what they are saying. After pressure from the Police Commissioner Delhi, DCP North West, Mr.Bundela is initiating the action for further enquiry ,after 20 days though. A dedicated blog "Fight-Against-MAX" has been created for this cause. Many of us have been victims to others carelessness & ignorance however we have mostly ignored it too. This is the time we should come up together and ignore the ignorance and fight for the cause. Medical professionals & any other people sitting at responsible positions should understand the importance of there role and should pay due attention to it. Someones stupid fault can make someones life faulty and bring it to an end; lets try to make sure this never happens again.

How about you, have you seen any similar cases? What do you think about this? Any other stories or views you might want to share... In the mean time, please keep blogging and keep reading & commenting on my blogs. This is RAHUL saying, Good Bye & Good Luck... JAI HO!!!!
(read the comments below & click here to read further...)

After 2 years, I am not celebrating Memorial Day as I am in India today. Do I miss it?? Honestly, not the Memorial day but I do miss US. More than a year back I wrote my 1st blog when I was in India & then 2nd blog after I reached US... Yaadein!!!

Hi Rahul,

I had a similar experience with Max Hospital Pitampura . My son had high fever close to 102-104 fahrenheit. We rushed him to Max hospital based on its reputation at midnight. But the treatment we got...I will consider to take my son to local clinic but not to MAX anymore. The doctors at the emergency took lot of time in diagnosing the problem ...as a result my son got a fit...thanks to them. They finally admitted him to ICU Pediatric ward. The state of the ward was pathetic. There were already 3 children and a new bed was adjusted in a living space of say 15'* 10'. The management had the knowledge that the air conditioner of the room was not working. Even then they admitted my son to same congested and suffocating room. There was no facility for fans. I'd to fight with the management at dead of night to get some fans installed for the kids in ICU. Also I'd same experience wrt diagnosis and treatment, the pediatric doctor whose name appeared in all prescriptions was out of station. I never saw him during our stay at Max hospital. A junior doctor was diagnosing my son and he too rarely came to visit my son at the ICU. All instructions were being given via telephone. After a day or two, when my son's health stabilised, they told us that they would be shifting him to a ward/room. But see the chaos and mismanagement, there was not a single room available. We were told to continue in the ICU. This is really surprising since ICU is always meant for patients with severe disorders which require 24/7 attention and care. I requested them to discharge my son, its better he stays and recuperate at home than in that ICU. They tried to create excuses like blood and urine reports are yet to come, since they did not want a customer to go out of their hand. But atlast after much discussions, I managed to get my son discharged. I thank God that atleast my son did not meet same worst situation like what Nitika went thru.

Hi, I am really glad your son is fine now. Its not just MAX but all such institutions who are ready to take our money as much as they can but not ready to provide appropriate services & care as needed. Lets bring our voice together and shout, so as these deaf organizations & there owners can hear our voice & do something to improve this...

It is sad that such gross neglegient acts on the part of Max Hospital goes unpunished. Life givers becoming life takers. Life will not come back but the family must be compensated and the child's future ensured at the expense of Max. One must condemn the management offered and an awareness programe for the public started as to what they are getting in max for a huge price they pay them. Insurance companies must be asked to stop dealing with Max Hospital group altogether. Delhi Government must wake up and take strict action against Max.

What a shame for Max Hospital!Let it be your daughter or sister and give this result and give a huge bill for this service of giving back a dead body to a family waiting for their happiest moment in the family.Utter commercialisation with poor services with below average staff in all the Departments. A similar incidence of post caesarian death in Patparganj hospital occured just a few months back. Probably that did not get much publicity. Save Delhi mothers and save delhi children from the dangerous claws of MAX.

Thanks for the comments guys. It clearly shows that it's not the first time this blunder has occurred and no one has paid any attention to it yet. This is high time we look into this & get this sorted out once & for all!!

Hi Rahul,
I live in the UAE and the medical system here is equally bad, but we are left with no choice but to believe what the doctors have to say.
I have a four year old daughter and last year she was very sick,it started with common cold and cough and because of the negligiance of the doctor she landed up having Pneumonia and had to be admitted to the hosiptal for 5 days.
It was a very painful experience but trust me we had no choice. After she was discharged i took her to India and got all her reports checked by our family doctor and he advised it was not necessary to admit the child and put her on IV's, she would have been alright with oral antibiotics only.
So my point here is that where every you go it is the same. Doctors are all out to just make money, i dont say we dont have good doctors, yes we do but we have to be really lucky to get one.
Feel really sorry hearing about the case, all we can do is pray to God for the small child.
Take care and bye for now.

Hi Rahul,
I had a similar experience at Max Hospital,Noida.Dr.Vineeta Agarwal gynae at MAX is the most inhuman doctor on this earth.I wonder if she even has a degree in Medicine. She scares the patient by throwing big med jargons and prescribes the strongest med without even diagnosing the problem "IF ANY".Donot feel like narrating the incident as it makes me upset thinking about the same. But its really a shame and carelessness on MAX part to recruit such incompetent doctors.I seriously hope we have a better system to handle such cases against doctors/hospitals.

You are welcome Shruti, the reason I had started blogging was not just fun but to express my opinion and bring up my voice on such issues of concern. This is a terrible incident and it's our responsiblity to make sure we do somethin gabout it. Let's just hope, and not just hope but make sure that we cna make a difference.
Thanks to everyone for there support, please spread the message further & bring our voice together!!

I hate MAX, Saket...

They killed my father (53), in a similar way as they killed Nitika. When papa complained of abdominal pain, they kept on spraying "Volini" spray..After my father's repeated complaints, of the pain not being muscular, no heed was paid, and papa stopped complaining as he said there was'nt a point in doing so. Finally, one 'fine' night after pushing me out of the ICU, I don't know what all did they do, that papa never woke up after that. I was called in the morning and told that they had put him on ventilator, as his BP had suddenly started falling (something for which they neither did they have a reason nor could diagnose it). And when i asked the reason for his unconciousness, they said that as a 'protocol' the person had to be sedated before putting him on ventilator, and he would wake up. after the effect of the sedative wears off. I trusted the doctor, and that cost me the biggest mistake of my life.

After a 24hr-wait, when I questioned again the reason for his unconciousness, they declared that he has slipped into coma. Then on secretly checking the attending nurse's records I found that the 'killer doctors' had lied to me. Papa had been administered sedatives, even on the previous night (when they had turned me out of the ICU). He had been administerd I.V of morphine. Repeated dosages of sedatives ensured that papa never woke up, and those killers had succeeded in their job. They had justified their 'noble' profession. And one another day, papa gave up on his fight against coma.

If this is what hospital and its treatment means, then I would perfer to die between my loved ones, and die untreated, rather be killed at the behest of these killers, who come in white collars, white coats, and go back with their hands colored red; a color which makes the lives of so many others colorless (including a life, which had wanted to live longer, enjoying the colors of life, and filling others life with their colors), and lets the bloodied hands of those kilers, unexposed and censored.

Papa's zest to live life to its fullest was cut short by people who didn'nt have any right to govern the way he wanted to lead his life. For a person who never had any complaint in life, from life, has left behind his loved ones, who have nothing, but only complaints, left in life.

I now pray (rather curse), that those killers get a bloodied and a brutal life (and not death, as that may ease out their sins); a life which would be worse than the pain of death.

These 'killers' called doctors have no right to practice; practice taking one life after another.

Oh my GOD!! How terrible, this is another extremely unfortunate incident. I can't express my sorrow, I really am at loss of words...

Hi Rahul,

There is something I want to do, such that these 'white-collared killers' dont get away with their sins. But in a country, like India, where there is so much of corruption everywhere, including its legal system, I know there will be no justice.

Now its just that the fire which I put in my father's pyre, burns in my heart, and that fire which reduced to ashes a lively person, is now doing the same with the people he has left behind.

Till when will we be so helpless and have our hands tied, and mouths shut against these killers?

Regards,
Ishika

Ishika, I know it's not easy in to raise your voice as a common man against any kind of injustice. But someone has to do something. And it could be us.
Friends, get in touch with me at my email (imthebest_rt@yahoo.com) & lets try to do something.

Its really sad that we lost a gem, its really difficult to express the pain when someone very close to heart dies. And it hurts even more when you know dearest life could have been be saved. All those responsible for this negligience should be punished and proper regulation is needed to prevent any more such incidents. I hope this canvass will become a strong weapon against doctors, who think they can hide themselves after big blunders they do…
The incident is a result of negligence on the part of doctors and the hospital management. But, who’s answerable to a day old baby for all that has happened? Though he cannot get his mother back, but we all can and should join hands in this fight of the family against the culprits hoping that such incidences do not happen again I promise my commitment to stand with your family during these atrocious days
i will miss her..

It is really sad to hear all this. I have also lost faith in Max Hospital. All the doctors know that most of the people working in the corporate world are ensured. So, they do not give a second thought before admitting a patient even if it is not required. I had a similar experience. I had some episodes of inability to speak which in medical terms is called aphysic seizure and pain in the head. I went to Max. They asked me to get admitted urgently. I was admitted in MAX for 5 days. They did all the tests they could think of. I was discharged after 5 days saying that it could be Brain TB or neurocysticercosis ( very common in India these days, occurs due to a tapeworm in cabbage or unwashed pork or any other raw, unwashed vegetable ). They gave me steroids all the time and after discharge also they advised me to take steroids for 1 week. I consulted few other doctors. I was told by every one that admission in hospital was not required at all. And also neurocysticercosis can be cured without steroids. During my 5 days in the hospital, doctors were verly negligent. I WANT TO GO TO CONSUMER COURT. CAN ANYBODY HELP ME HOW I CAN GO ABOUT IT AND WHAT CAN BE THE CONSEQUENCES?There are so many other things which happened. I cannot mention all the details here.

Hi,
Its a great effort by all to put up their experiences here for others to be cautioned.

Recently my brother was complained of sever stomach pain and vomitting. He went to Max clinic in Panchsheel and they sent him to Max Hospital Saket. At the hospital, nobody saw him for 6 hours and even then, put him on IV giving pain killers and regular stomach infection meds. At 2am, he started shivering uncontrollably with v.high fever. Even then, more meds..no diagnosis. After 3days in that crazy hospital, the doctors were able to Diagnose it as Appendicitis, which by now (after 3 days of neglect and acute pain)had begun to turn gangrenous.
Max employs very incompetent and inexperienced junior doctors at night, who are absolutely disinterested in the patient. The whole stay cumulated to 10 days..i would never recommend MAX to anyone...Just fancy rooms dont appeal to paitents, proper diagnosis and treatment does.

Max Hospital's reputation has turned very bad. Why does the Medical Counci of India/Health Ministry etc. does not terminate its license?
